TECHNICAL ARCHITECT
LOCATION: PHILADELPHIA, PA.
“When you mention that you’re an architect, the assumption is that you design buildings. Replace ‘buildings’ with ‘product solutions,’ and that’s more my speed.”
If you work at Gannett Fleming, you might know Ohan Oumoudian from the GeoInnovator blog series for our geospatial IT division, GeoDecisions. But what you might NOT know is that Ohan was born and raised in Beirut, Lebanon; photography is his favorite pastime; and he’s a Villanova and Lebanese American University graduate who’s fluent in Arabic, Armenian, English, and French.
On top of all that, Ohan lives and breathes technology. To assist our engineers in producing the highest quality work at a faster pace, he integrates GIS technology throughout Gannett Fleming’s many departments. Ohan is a lifelong learner who knows how to deliver for his clients. Pulling from his prior experience as a co-owner of a GIS firm, he understands his clients not only from a technical perspective but also from a business proprietor standpoint.
We asked Ohan a few questions to get to know him:
What’s the biggest misconception people have about your position?
When you mention that you’re an architect, the assumption is that you design buildings. Replace “buildings” with “product solutions,” and that’s more my speed. I utilize existing technology to build and present options to our clients that align with their requirements and exceed their expectations.
What could you give a 30-minute presentation about with no advance preparation?
All things Esri, GIS technology, maps software, and gadgets. I’m a gadget guy!
How does the company support your personal growth?
In my hybrid role at GeoDecisions, I work in our transportation consulting practice while also building solutions as part of our products team. Whether I’m client-facing or working behind the scenes, there are always opportunities for continued learning and exposure to new technology. Our leadership pushes us to expand our minds, and this is why we’re able to tackle our clients’ trickiest challenges.
If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would you choose?
Probably a chef. I love cooking – particularly Middle Eastern food!
What three words would your friends and family use to describe you?
