Post to Lead Sales and Growth in Western U.S.

NEW POSITION REFLECTIVE OF GANNETT FLEMING’S EXPANSION AND INFRASTRUCTURE INDUSTRY GROWTH

November 9, 2023

In a role that he says is the culmination of a 40-year career, Thomas Post, PE, JD, has been named Gannett Fleming’s sales and growth leader for the Western U.S.

Gannett Fleming’s expansion in California and the entire Western U.S. spans architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) markets and solutions, including:

  • Transportation.
  • Water resources.
  • Buildings.
  • Power and energy.

Therefore, Post’s hiring comes at a critical time for the firm and the infrastructure industry, as projects funded by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), also known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, advance.

“Our clients are looking ahead to 2024 and beyond, facing the increase in IIJA funding and the subsequent influx of projects, technological changes, and the need to address aging infrastructure and prioritize renewable energy and sustainability. Tom’s decades of experience delivering infrastructure projects in the Western U.S. will deepen our partnerships with clients as we help them thrive through these forces of change,” said Gannett Fleming’s Chief Growth Officer Joseph Deery, PE. “Because he has worked at public agencies and for municipal clients, he knows what keeps them up at night, and that’s where Gannett Fleming can be an unparalleled partner.”

A veteran of all facets of the infrastructure industry, Post comes to Gannett Fleming after working in project, operations, and sales management at consultant AEC firms, as well as in the public sector and as a gubernatorial appointee in California.

As director of engineering for the California High-Speed Rail Authority, he was responsible for the development of and conformance to all civil, structural, and seismic engineering standards for the high-speed rail program. He also served as the chief of the Division of Earthquake Engineering and Design Support at the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), where he was responsible for seismic design policies and standards.

Post has been engaged in the delivery of more than 30 complex, long-term transportation projects, including the:

  • Benicia-Martinez Bridge.
  • Seismic retrofit of the suspension portion of the western spans of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge.
  • Bay Area Rapid Transit Warm Springs Extension design-build project.
  • Program management of the east San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge spans.
  • Presidio Parkway public-private partnership at the southern approach to the Golden Gate Bridge.

“I’ve known Gannett Fleming’s work from the client side and as an industry partner at other consultants – this firm is known for its high standard of quality and excellence above all else. It’s what draws bright, trustworthy, and innovative people and makes Gannett Fleming an AEC employer of choice,” said Post. “I love this work because I get to do it alongside people I enjoy and learn from – our valued clients and my Gannett Fleming colleagues – and it’s why we can accomplish so much together.”

An active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Post earned his Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the University of Michigan and his Juris Doctor from the University of the Pacific.
