June 16, 2022

Gannett Fleming, in partnership with our valued clients, garnered 14 American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) project awards at the state and national levels. This recognition of engineering excellence reflects the firm’s focus on a broad depth of quality service offerings and successful project delivery across market sectors.

Two Pennsylvania projects achieved national recognition from ACEC and state awards from ACEC Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s I-83 Exit 4 Diverging Diamond Interchange in Shrewsbury received a National Recognition Award and an ACEC Pennsylvania Diamond Award. The Penn State University’s Ancient DNA Biomolecules Research Laboratory in University Park also collected a National Recognition Award in addition to a Best Small Project Award from ACEC Pennsylvania.

An ACEC National Recognition Award was also presented for Fullerton Reservoirs, a 62-million-gallon prestressed concrete tank storage facility that provides abundant, clean water to Baltimore County citizens. It also received an ACEC/Maryland Award for Excellence that recognized the project’s exemplary water resources design.

ACEC New Jersey recognized Gannett Fleming and our clients with four Distinguished Project Awards, including engineering services provided for the New Jersey American Water Raritan-Millstone Water Treatment Plant Standby Power project, which upgraded backup power systems to critical water supply for over one million New Jersey residents.

ACEC New Jersey also recognized two transportation projects: the revitalization of the state’s infrastructure by improving the New Jersey Turnpike Authority’s (NJTA) Interchange 6 Express E-ZPass toll plaza in Burlington County and replacing aging bridges along NJ 440 in Woodbridge Township for the New Jersey Department of Transportation. Finally, New Jersey residents benefited from Gannett Fleming’s architectural and engineering design expertise for renovations to the NJTA-owned PNC Arts Center in Holmdel.

Two Gold Awards from ACEC New York were given to projects where Gannett Fleming provided architectural and engineering work, including one for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) training center in the iconic Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan and the other for resiliency-related improvements to the MTA New York City Transit Fan Plant 7204 in Long Island City. Winning a Silver Award for designing and constructing an innovative, fully automated grease receiving station was the Great Neck Water Pollution Control District’s Digester Improvements and Grease Receiving Station.

Finally, ACEC Connecticut awarded a Merit Award for the Merritt Parkway project, a rehabilitation and restoration of 11 historic bridges and roadways in Westport and Fairfield.

These award-winning projects align with ACEC’s mission to strengthen infrastructure, enhance public safety, raise the profile of the engineering profession, and offer sustainable and economical solutions for clients. Through these projects and countless others, and together with our clients, Gannett Fleming is creating a better future for the communities we serve.
