What to Expect During Our Hiring Process

Attracting and retaining top talent is fundamental to our continued growth and success (it’s one of our core values!). While the interview steps and timeline may vary, we’re committed to providing transparency about our selection process and providing a positive experience for you as a candidate.

What is your interview process?

The interview process will vary based upon the position, but the qualified candidate should expect the interview experience to resemble the following:

  1. Candidate applies.
  2. Recruiter reviews resume.
  3. Recruiter contacts candidate to conduct a preliminary phone screen.
  4. Recruiter schedules an interview with the hiring manager.
  5. Candidate participates in a virtual or face-to-face interview. Depending upon the role, multiple interviews may follow.
  6. Recruiter follows up with the candidate and hiring manager for feedback.
  7. The successful candidate receives a written offer, and unsuccessful candidates receive notice that they were not selected for further consideration.
  8. The successful candidate responds to the offer. For candidates based in the United States, offers are contingent upon successfully passing a pre-employment drug screen within 72 hours of acceptance and all pre-employment background checks.

How long is your interview process?

Depending upon the position, the timeline will differ. However, successful candidates can typically expect to start within 45-60 days from their application date. Factors that may impact this timeline include:

  • Background checks.
  • Pre-employment drug screens.
  • Number of candidates.
  • Level of the position.
  • Number of interview participants.
  • Project timelines.

How do I apply?

Applying is fast and easy! You can search open positions on our website and narrow your search using a number of variables. When you find a job that interests you, click “Apply Now.” If you haven’t applied to a position at Gannett Fleming before, you’ll be prompted to create an account and complete your profile. If you have applied before, you’ll be able to log in with your email and password, and the information you entered previously will be available to review and update. The application process typically takes less than 15 minutes.

What questions will be asked during the phone screen?

Our recruiters review applications as they are received and schedule phone screens with candidates who seem qualified for the role. Phone screens typically last 15-20 minutes and serve as a preliminary interview to determine a candidate’s viability for an interview with the hiring manager(s). Expect to discuss your professional experience, qualifications, and what you are looking for in your next role.
