Through an agreement with the county of San Mateo, Vertical Transportation Excellence (VTX), a division of Gannett Fleming, provides professional vertical transportation services, including comprehensive design and engineering. The work covers ongoing service and maintenance on passenger elevators, escalators, and lift systems in 19 facilities.

Our elevator and escalator team conducted equipment condition surveys and maintenance audits of:

• Elevator machine rooms.
• Hoistways.
• Entrances.
• Car enclosures for traction elevators and hydraulic elevators.
• Escalator driving machines.
• Brakes.
• Motors.
• Controllers.
• Tracks.

This work resulted in a list of deficiencies for use by the county’s maintenance provider to facilitate safe operations and a state of good repair. The scope of services also includes performance and ride quality testing and contract review to assist the county in managing its vertical transportation systems.

VTX is also providing design, bid procurement, and construction administration for the modernization of commercial elevators in the San Mateo County Hall of Justice and Records and Maguire Correctional Facility. Our team is replacing the direct current motors and generators with variable voltage variable frequency drives to increase cost effectiveness.
